Hattiesburg? Really?  Have you seen the places that this tour has stopped?

This Wednesday April 27, 2011 Chris McDougall, author of New York Times Bestseller BORN TO RUN, and Scott Jurek, ultramarathon champion/Top Runner of the DECADE, will be leading a 45min run followed by a book signing and speech at SACKS OUTDOORS in Historic Downtown Hattiesburg, MS.  It will kick off around 5:00pm.  Scott and Chris will begin the run around 5:30pm and end at THE VENUE around 6:15pm.  At that point, Chris will sign books until everyone gets settled in.  Scott and Chris will begin to speak and take any questions.

There will be TONS of giveaways!  Vibram Five Fingers, Merrell Barefoot Shoes, Hydro Flask Water Bottles, TOMS, KEEN Boots, Darn Tough Socks, Smartwool, BOGS, Mt Hardwear, Patagonia, Carhartt, and so much more!!!

Scott Jurek has been featured in ESPN Magazine, New York Times, USA Today, Mens Health, Runners World, Esquire, Wall Street Journal and many others, including just as many books.

He is also a Certified Level 1 USA TRACK and FIELD Coach!!! It will be an honor to meet and speak with Scott.

Sacks Outdoors has the paperback version of BORN TO RUN on sale now for $15.  You can purchase one now or wait and buy a copy at the event.  It is NOT mandatory you buy a copy of the book.  And FREE ADMISSION for the run and event.  You can still enter to win one of the MANY free products!  If you already ran for the day or not up for it you can just attend the event following the run.  This is a very laid back event.  We are so fortunate and honored to have two ICONS in the running world like Chris McDougall and Scott Jurek.

I’m not much of a minimalist runner (I am a mid-foot striker) so I will be wearing my running shoes but I am super excited.  I met Scott at R&R Mardi gras and he seemed super down to earth.

Are you a ‘naked runner’?  Why?  How far?  How fast?

No I am not. I am injured for 4 months straight now for trying to "embrace" the minimalist way.

Sounds awesome though. If you win the vibrams, put em on ebay ;)

It is an interesting concept. My own observation (be careful, I'm not a scientist) I have never had any foot problems, plantar etc. but
I know a lot of ppl who do. I chalk it up to participating in a barefoot sport for years. Strong feet? Maybe!

Wow. So cool! I'm pretty disappointed they won't make it anywhere near me. (Hattiesburg isn't too far from New Orleans, but gas is expensive & I'm poor.) VERY jealous, so you're going to have to take a ton of pictures & write a great report. Have fun!

They are coming near hear (about an hour away) this summer. I am so excited to go to this! Yes, I have been embracing BF running of late and really love it, so this will be right up my alley. Have fun!

Just out of curiosity, what pace will they be running?

I really want to get into the minimalist side of running, but haven't had the finances to pick up the VFFs yet.
