The Naked Running Tour–In Pictures

NakedLogo1

The Naked Running Tour arrived in Hattiesburg last night.  It was a great run and a great talk afterwards.  I got to talk with a lot of running friends – some I don’t get to see very often.  I went to the tour straight from work and got home just after 9PM – just past my bedtime!

Kudos to Sacks Outdoors for putting this together.  It was world class and the the door prizes were wonderful.  I won a pair of Vibram 5 finger shoes.  We will see how this works into my running régime.

Scott talks about being an ultra runner and being vegan.

Scott talked about bare foot running and minimalist running.  I was glad that he made a distinction between the two.  He said runs almost exclusively in a light weight racing flat.

I have a lot of shoes and I run in them for different sessions.  Do you have different shoes for different workouts?  Do you have training shoes and racing shoes?  Why?

Great post! I'm not gonna lie that I'm pretty jealous. Right now, I only wear one shoe but I'm thinking about changing it up over the coming year. I'm very interested to hear how things go with your new Vibrams...

So cool you got to go to this! I'll bet it was a blast. I can't wait until it comes this way. I'm also going to Jackson Hole this summer and have already contacted Eric Orton about a little form session!

seriously? you won something AGAIN???

Can I pay you to buy me a lottery ticket?

Yes I have different shoes. Lately though they are all neutral shoes. I have some pairs I only wear on trails some only on pavement. Mainly they wear different and have found they are more comfortable by not wearing them all over different surfaces (could all be in my head too).

I have racing flats. I will not wear them until all of my issues are resolved though.

What is the difference between barefoot and minimalist? (aside from the no shoes part) I see the Vibrams runners running on the balls of their feet in races, is that the difference?

I believe that minimalist means that there are not large devices in the shoes that provide stability and motion control. They allow you to run with a minimal amount of manipulation.

Also, I am the luckiest guy around. I win stuff all the time but I never gamble (except for house games with small stakes).

Great pictures, and it was nice to meet you in real life.

I have shoes that I train in at times that I would never race in, so I guess that counts.
