I’ve been contacting Gym managers, personal trainers and Running Coaches to try and get a feel for how to identify and approach those with an addiction to exercise—specifically those who feel their relationships, jobs or school is being threatened by an obsessive need to run.
I know that as a running coach, you are some of the most knowledgeable people in the exercise community who could easily identify those you would consider “overtraining” or “obsessed.”
We would love to reach out to these individuals and I’m wondering if you would help us get in touch with those who fit the age range and description, but most importantly really want to tell their story for the benefit of others.
I’m not of course asking for their personal information from you, or attempting to solicit anything but voluntary help.
If you happen to run across someone who fits the above description and would really love to talk to us, below is my contact information and you are more than welcome to give it to anyone you feel comfortable speaking to about the show. We would start with a conversation about the process of filming True Life and address any privacy concerns they might have before we talk. We understand the sensitive nature of this issue, and don’t intend on exploiting our subjects, or telling their stories in anything but their own words.
Below is also a link to the True Life website if you wanted to learn more about the show, and a flyer that some have been kind enough to distribute or hang on bulletin boards in an effort to catch the eye of those who might fit this description.
Thanks in advance for helping us out! Any suggestions or information is greatly appreciated!

Got the same email. I don't know if I even could send someone to them...kind of sad all around.
I seem to be addicted to masticating... I'm doing it more, the more I train! I NEED HELP!
Yeah... I feel that runners and triathletes are addicts. Dead serious.
Look at their lifestyles, their mental states and what actually drives them.
I do believe that I have an addictive personality... my only problem is that I have a different flavor of the week every week.
I am addicted to racing, no goal or race to train for, no gym for me, so to reach my goal then I have to workout. Thats just me
Haha. Part of me would do this... But I probably won't submit an entry. I also kinda qualify for the allergy one. Ultimately, do I really have big problems? No. Do I want to be exposed on MTV? No. :)
